Please contact me, Janine, on 0418 970 530 if you cannot find an answer to your question - if I do not answer immediately I am likely snuggling with puppies, blowing bubbles or throwing balls - please text and I will reply as soon as I can! Alternatively, please email maxskennelclub@gmail.com
We provide 24-hour care for pet guests, however, we are open to the public by appointment only. We operate a little differently to other boarding facilities when it comes to dropping off and picking up your pup. We do not offer a one or two hour drop off / pick up window in the morning and afternoon, we find this too restrictive for pet parents, especially those who have long travels ahead of them. When completing a Dog Boarding Information form you will be able to choose your appointment time for arrival and departure. You will need to take your best guess, however, you are welcome to contact me to amend it if you need. Our days are long and busy, we ask kindly that you adhere to your chosen appointment time.
Unfortunately we no longer do kennel viewings. Our doggie guests are our priority - our day is devoted to them and to those arriving or departing. Thank you for your understanding.
We have over 100 photos in the 'Gallery' on this website showing our buildings, inside and out. You'll see photos of their bedrooms, their pens and play areas. You'll see fun and friends. Google us. Find us on Facebook. Read our wonderful pet-parent reviews!
Absolutely. All suites are fully air-conditioned for summer comfort and heated in the winter.
The Max’s Kennel Club team are always on their toes looking out for changes in behaviour. If need be, the owner is contacted immediately and the pet is either taken to his/ her own vet or to our veterinarian on-call..
We know sometimes plans change, if your pup's reservation needs to be cancelled, we understand completely and you will not be charged. We just ask that you let us know as soon as you do.
We don't however, offer refunds for early pick ups. If you decide to cut your and your pups holiday short, please do not ask for a refund.
Yes. These boys have a lot of extra mojo, so they will have a little extra special time together with our team. They will be on a different schedule than our other guests and enjoy their play time while the other pups are enjoying their gourmet meals. Some intact males are very well socialised and will have no trouble spending their day with the other puppers, we will assess this on the first day of their stay.
Unfortunately, no. A female in heat tends to stress out the boys too much!
Our primary concern is the welfare of our guests. For this reason, our minimum boarding age for dogs is 4 months. It is generally recommended that puppies get their first round of vaccinations at 6-8 weeks and second round at 10-12 weeks. In any kennel environment, a young pup could possibly be exposed to air-borne viruses it could not fight off. Our recommendation is to board puppies at your veterinarian’s office until they have reached our minimum age requirement.
Senior dogs are always welcome. Please be sure to communicate any medical or health related issues to us ahead of their stay.
Unfortunately, no. Pets with significant medical needs are better off under a veterinarian’s care, despite the qualifications of our team. We do not accept diabetic pets for boarding but will refer you to a highly qualified veterinarian who can board and administer treatments to your pet.
Absolutely! Many of our pet parents like to call to check on their pets during their stay with us – we always let them know that they are welcome to call us at any time to check on their pets. We certainly understand how difficult it is to leave them and we are more than happy to answer your questions and provide updates on how they are settling in. We are usually with them at the time and are happy to send photo’s also. Concerned parents are never a bother – we are exactly the same with our babies!!
Our planned premium meal program consists of precisely portioned feedings of our absolute favourite and most trusted, Australian made, Grain free, Gluten free, Hypoallergenic 'Meals for Mutts' kibble - a premium nutrition dog food of the highest quality with no artificial preservatives or colours. In addition, we serve homecooked human-grade Kangaroo mince with house roasted seasonal vegetables (most often pumpkin and sweet potato).
Check out our favourite kibble here - https://www.mealsformutts.com.au/product/dog-salmon-sardine-grain-free-gluten-free/
Breakfast includes scrambled free range eggs, salmon, and Greek yogurt, along with our delicious Meals For Mutts kibble. As an added benefit to all doggo's, Omega 3, 6 & 9 oil is added to every meal. If your pup is a bit of a picky eater, no worries! We’ll make sure we find something they love.
If your pet requires a special diet or has a sensitive tummy, we encourage you to bring their food when boarding. Our team will follow your instructions to make sure your pet follows his or her regular diet. By packaging each meal in separate containers labelled with your pet’s name, your pet will receive the exact amount of food that you feed him or her at home.
Sorry, there are no discounts on boarding fees if you pack your own meals.
While your doggo stays with us he/she will take part in either group or individual play based on temperament and your request. Playtime will occur three times a day, every day of his/her stay. Individual play and walks are no problem if required due to anxiety or other issues. Most pups are outdoors with friends and carers for most of the day, with older or anxious dogs allowed to come and go from their bedroom into the grassed areas, as they please. We try to include all dogs in our activities however would never put them in a situation where they may feel uncomfortable.
Yes, we can accommodate your wishes and board your pets together in the same suite, as space allows. Ideally, this would be appropriate for small or medium dogs only - this allows adequate space for each pet and promotes both comfort and safety. Siblings must be able to eat and drink in close quarters and only dogs from the same household are permitted to share a room.
If your pets are boarded together in the same suite, we can offer you 20% off the rate for your second doggo. First doggo is $50 per day, second is $40 (that is $90 per day per suite - for 2 dogs).
Long-term boarding is no problem. There is a 10% discount for every stay that is 14-days or longer. Stays that exceed 30 days - please contact us for a quote.
MKC provides clean, comfortable, snuggly bedding for each guest. In order to maintain a sanitary and controlled environment, outside bedding is not usually permitted, however, a small blanket or t-shirt with your scent on it will help to reduce separation anxiety. This will be allowed to stay with your pet, unless a MKC team member notices them chewing on it. If your pet has a favourite toy, then this is certainly most welcome. Any items from home should be labelled with permanent ink with your doggo's name. Your pet’s toys will stay with them in their suites and we do our best to return all toys. Occasionally, a toy may be lost during a playtime or cleaning.
If you would like to make a reservation for just one night, that is absolutely no worries. Our daily fee is $50 and you will be asked to pay for arrival day and departure day ($100). Your doggo will be needing a suite for the night and on departure, this suite needs to be sanitised, the linen, floor rug and bed need to be washed and toys need to be cleaned - so please don't ask for a $50 per night fee - it is $50 PER DAY to cover costs of cleaning and our premium meals.
Sorry, currently we do not offer doggy daycare.
We can allow a limited number of ‘non-social’ dogs at any one time, however, aggressive dogs will NOT be accepted to stay with us.
We offer our doggie guests a relaxing, safe and stress -free boarding environment, enjoying interaction with staff and other pets as part of the Max’s Kennel Club experience. With the way we run our club, providing plenty of playtime with compatible dogs, we are unfortunately unable to accept all dogs. All doggie guests need to be able to play nicely and respectfully and also be able to rest quietly in their rooms during the "down" times. Max’s Kennel Club will not accept dogs that are aggressive. By completing a ‘dog boarding information form’, you are accepting this policy. For the safety of all, please do not place a reservation with us if you know your pet to be aggressive. If your dog has ever bitten another dog or person, we regret we will not be able to care for your pet.
We are not dog trainers or a rehabilitation centre, we will always put the safety of our doggie guests first and cannot take the risk adding an unpredictable dog in the mix. If you are concerned about your dog’s behaviour, we would recommend you seek help from a professional dog behaviourist. Dogs with high anxiety or aggression will not be happy in kennels and it is not fair on them to be kennelled. We suggest that for the sake of your dog and for our dogs, that you look for alternatives.
If this advice is ignored and you leave your aggressive dog with us, you will be contacted and asked to pick up your dog and any payment for the time your dog has boarded will be charged.
The owner agrees to be solely responsible for any and all acts or behaviour of the pet while it is in the care of Max’s Kennel Club.
PLEASE - If you are unsure if MKC is suitable for your doggo, contact us!! You know your dog best and we can discuss your situation.
